We stopped by Sprinkle Me By Kake King this afternoon on the way home. One of those places that’s right around the corner from the house and we’ve been meaning to try forever, and today finally felt like the day.
Apparently half of Pearl had the same idea.
It was about 2pm on a Sunday and there was a line out the door. Cupcakes were $2 today, which I’m sure helped, but you could also tell pretty quickly this wasn’t just people chasing a deal. People were excited to be there. Folks walking out with boxes. People in line already talking about what they were getting next time.
Honestly the line moved pretty quickly and everyone seemed in a good mood. Hard to complain when you’re standing there waiting on cupcakes.
I’ve followed the owner, Jeromie T. Jones, online for a while and I’ve always liked the way he tells stories. I’m a sucker for that kind of thing. You can usually tell pretty quickly when someone is being real about their work and when they’re just selling something. He feels real.
My friend Rachel has said the same thing about him, and Rachel knows people better than just about anyone I know. If she says someone is authentic, I tend to believe her.
But let’s talk cupcakes.
These aren’t those giant novelty cupcakes where the frosting is piled up like a foot tall and you feel like you need a nap halfway through. These are balanced. Thoughtful. The kind where someone clearly cared about getting it right instead of just making it bigger.
The cake itself is fantastic. Moist, but not overly soft. Dense in that perfect way where it actually feels like cake, not air. Not heavy either. Just really well made.
We grabbed turtle, wedding cake, and strawberry.
I’ve already had the wedding cake and the strawberry and both were excellent. The wedding cake one might have been my favorite so far. Just clean, classic flavor and the texture was spot on.
The strawberry had that bright pop to it that makes you immediately think of spring.
The turtle is currently sitting on the counter waiting for dinner tonight, which might be the most responsible dessert planning I’ve ever done.
Nothing about these feels over the top. No gimmicks. Just really good cupcakes made by someone who clearly cares about what they’re making.
And honestly, it’s just nice to have a place like this right around the corner from the house.
We’ll definitely be back.

Smells really good as soon as you open the door. You are greeted as soon as you enter. They have a variety of options available and everyone behind the counter was super friendly.
